Kineo School students participate in enrichment opportunities regularly. These classes are in addition to our Core Academics and help provide a well-rounded educational experience for our students. Each school year, our cohort embarks on a variety of field trips, both within and beyond our campus.

Yoga and Movement

At Kineo, our weekly yoga and movement classes are designed to be a class where movement meets mindfulness. These sessions aren't just about exercise; they are about building balance and proprioception (body awareness), particularly helpful for our neurodivergent students who may find these areas challenging.

Each class invites students to explore self-awareness through intentional movements and breathing exercises. These practices become part of their personal toolkit for managing stress and anxiety, enhancing focus, and fully engaging in their academics.

The magic of these classes lies in their ability to foster social connections. Group activities encourage peer interaction, nurturing vital social skills in a supportive environment. Picture kids balancing on one foot, walking on beams, and participating in deep pressure exercises—each activity designed to build their physical and emotional resilience.

We incorporate these elements into playful obstacle courses that seamlessly blend balance and proprioception exercises. The result? A holistic approach that not only boosts physical development but also sharpens concentration, supports emotional regulation, and promotes overall wellbeing.

Art isn’t just an extracurricular activity at Kineo; it’s an essential part of our students' growth and development. Through weekly art classes, our students develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and an understanding of spatial relationships. But the beauty of art extends beyond beyond physical development, becoming an outlet for students to express their thoughts and feelings, providing a safe space for emotional exploration.

This year, our art instruction centers around the theme of the Elements of Art. Students will dive into the world of line, shape, color, value, texture, form, and space, discovering how each element contributes to their creative expression.

As the school year draws to a close, we celebrate their artistic journeys with our annual Art Walk. This event showcases the incredible creations our students have crafted throughout the year and is a highlight for staff, students, and parents alike. It’s a joyful celebration of creativity, growth, and the unique voices of every child at Kineo.

End of year performance

Kineo’s end-of-year performance truly embodies our values as a school. Teachers carefully adapt every aspect of the process to meet a wide range of sensory, emotional, and cognitive needs, ensuring that every student can participate in a meaningful way.

At its heart, this tradition isn’t about putting on a perfect show, it’s about coming together, showcasing what makes us unique, and sharing a collective “we did it!” moment.

For Students:

  • A role for everyone: Each student has a role tailored to their strengths and preferences, whether it’s on stage or behind the scenes.

  • Building confidence: It’s a chance to try something new, work with others, and share their efforts with pride

  • Teamwork matters: Learning to work together and navigate the occasional hiccup (or forgotten line).

For Families:

  • Pride in our students: Watching our children participate, grow, and shine is a proud moment for every family.

  • Connection: A chance to share in the experience and feel part of a supportive community.

  • Memories to treasure: The performances might not always go as planned, but they’re always perfect!

Enhancing learning with field trips

Here at Kineo, we view field trips as more than just outings—they are little adventures that bring learning to life. Each school year, our cohort embarks on a variety of field trips, both within and beyond our campus. These excursions are thoughtfully designed to supplement learning through new experiences and exploration, broadening students' thinking and enhancing classroom material. By turning the routine into the remarkable, our field trips offer fun and engaging ways for students to deepen their understanding of the world around them through firsthand experiences.

One standout experience was a farm field trip where he explored the life cycles of plants. Tasting root vegetables, planting his own to take home and engaging in hands-on learning made a deep impact. He still talks about that day and continues to care for the plant he brought home with a sense of pride and responsibility.
